Snowy showers that battered Britain on Thursday will give way to unsettled weather including heavy downpours and thunderstorms, UK weather forecast shows.
According to the forecast, spring will hit Britain with a washout this weekend as the “Pest from the West” winter weather makes way for thundery downpours and hail.
Temperatures will creep up to a balmy 14C on Saturday seeing off the recent snowy blizzards — but heavy rain will move in from the South West from tomorrow.
Met Office forecaster Aidan McGivern said earlier: “There is a lot of uncertainty at this stage in terms how far north that low pressure will move.
“But, it looks fairly likely that this weekend will remain unsettled with low pressure in charge – that low pressure bringing outbreaks of rain and strong winds particularly in the south.
Last week’s cold snap – dubbed the “Beast from the East” – triggered an estimated £50 million of cold weather payments.
